Nils Jendri (born 1980 in Freiburg im Breisgau) studied Visual Communication at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart, where he graduated with a diploma. He also holds a Master’s degree in European Media from the University of Portsmouth and a PhD in Philosophy from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. He lives and works as a freelance artist in Denzlingen.
In his paintings, Jendri confronts viewers with dynamic spray compositions on canvas that highlight his mastery of the sprayed medium. His carefully constructed works, with their elegant use of lines, patterns, and color fields, evoke the impression of abstracted architectural drawings. Through his intuitive approach to color, Jendri has developed a distinct visual language that gives rise to new painterly arrangements.
For his artistic work, he received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York City. His curatorial activities have also been supported by a grant from the Franco-German Citizens' Fund.
Jendri is the founder of the art space Constant Dschungel in Denzlingen, where he regularly organizes and curates exhibitions. In addition, he offers workshops for children and young people in his studio.
